ZCraft is about design and construction that is built to last. Not just for a while but for generations. Solid wood construction throughout our pieces assures that what we build today will be around to pass from generation to generation for many years to come. Many companies are about volume and mass production. ZCraft is about custom design and unique construction. For over 30 years we have made a wide variety of custom and "one off" pieces for a wide range of clients.
Custom designed Curio Cabinet - Solid black walnut with solid brass fittings and custom glass shelving, this piece was built to highlight the clients unique collection of figurines. With glass on three sides and custom lighting the piece was also designed to fit into an existing space and best use the light and location to show the pieces.
Heirloom repair - This piece came to us in roughly 150 pieces. The upper rail had been broken off, the legs were broken (some in the middle of the curve) and elements of the veneered top were pealed back and broken. In short the piece was pretty badly damaged when it was given to us to repair. We took the pieces that were found and the elements that survived and then recreated the missing pieces from color matched wood. We then took to the task of repairing the piece and refinishing it back to its original luster. We welcome these types of challenges are happy to do this extensive repair work of family heirlooms. Pieces of this beauty should not be discarded and it is amazing how much we can do to bring a piece back to its original beauty.
Client inspired built in Bedroom set - Built as a "one off" piece this built in bedroom set was inspired by the client and focused on some unique needs in the space. The headboard is slanted for the clients to use pillows to view a large screen TV on the opposite wall. Additionally the headboard opens to reveal storage for additional pillows and a comforter. The end tables were designed with power requirements for both the end table lights and alarm clocks for each of the owners (one on each side). Lastly was the design of the shelves. Given that both clients were avid readers (and one into collectibles) the shelves had to be adjustable to accommodate new books and pieces over time.
Totem Project - One of our clients had a unique need for some custom totem poles for an upcoming church event. Using some locally sourced tree segments (14' long each) we were able to build some totem poles to their design specifications in a few short days. The pieces were used as the grand entry to their evening event. This is just a sampling of the custom wood talents that we strive to bring to each commission in an effort to inspire and delight each client.
